National Higher Education Fund /
Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN)

The National Higher Education Fund / PTPTN was established under the National Higher Education Act 1997 (Act 566) with the main objectives to provide loans to eligible students at higher learning institutions, provide saving schemes, and manage funds for higher education.

Eligibility criteria
In order to apply for PTPTN loan, the student has to meet the following criteria:
  • Malaysia citizen
  • Registered in the course and/or started his intake
  • Free from any other loans or scholarships
  • Course or programme duration must be at least 1 year (Level 3 is not eligible for PTPTN loan)
  • Only Diploma (Part I & II) and Degree (Levels 1 & 2) programme are eligible for applying for PTPTN loan (Degree Foundation programme is not eligible)
  • For Degree programme, student must have
      • APIIT-UCTI Foundation result
      • or Diploma certificate and transcript from APIIT-UCTI or other colleges
      • or STPM with 2.00 and above for 2 subjects including General Paper
      • or A-Levels

      Note: Foundation or matriculation programme from other colleges and UEC are not eligible to apply for PTPTN loan for the whole degree programme

Loan coverage
The loan covers RM8,000 per year for a Diploma course and minimum of RM10,500 and maximum of RM16,500 per year for a Degree course.
How to apply
You will need to fill up the form available here and purchase PIN number from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN). Current price is RM5.

AMMA Foundation

The AMMA Foundation was established as a Company by guarantee and not having share capital in 1980. Its principal objective is to assist needy Malaysians to pursue their studies at approved institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. The Foundation is a not for profit charitable organization with tax-exempt status that offers study loan to talented and deserving students who are financially challenged.

Eligibility criteria
In order to apply for AMMA Foundation loan, the student has to meet the following criteria:
  • Malaysian Citizen
  • Full-time Diploma/Degree courses
  • Local universities and colleges only
  • To retain the loans, candidates must ensure they pass all examinations and maintain a CGPA of at least 2.75 and above each year.
Loan coverage
The loan amount varies according to the courses:
  • Degree courses: RM4,500 per semester per year (maximum: RM27,000)
  • Diploma courses: RM3,500 per semester per year (maximum: RM21,000)

MARA Loan

The MARA Loan programme applies to students who plan to join any private institution for certain Degree or Masters programme approved by MOHE.

Eligibility criteria
  • 5 SPM credits or equivalent qualifications with credit in BM and 3P STPM level including General Paper/or 2P (including General Paper) and 2 subsidiary or any other equivalent qualifications
  • Students must attain at a minimum of CGPA 2.0 for every semester for the duration of the course of study
  • Students must complete the course of study within 4 years (Engineering courses), 3 years for other Degree courses and 5 years for Masters. Any request for extension or repeat will not be entertained
  • Only Bumiputera students are eligible
  • Loan coverage
    The loan covers tuition fees and allowance, the amount of which depends on your financial background.

    Koperasi Jayadiri Malaysia Berhad (KOJADI)

    Koperasi Jayadiri Malaysia Berhad (KOJADI) was established in 1981 with the primary objective of extending an effective educational loan facility to enable needy students to pursue higher education, and to shape human resources into well-trained manpower for the Malaysian Community and the Nation.

    Eligibility criteria
    You must gain admission to an approved local or overseas institution of higher learning to be eligible to apply. You can also apply through a member of KOJADI who has RM100 of initial shares and holds the requisite additional shares ranging from RM500 to RM2,000.
    Loan coverage
    Maximum loan amount is RM30,000 and is released in two or three disbursements over the entire duration of the course of study.

    Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED)

    Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED) offers RM43 million in loans with an average disbursement of RM6 million to RM7 million annually for students studying in local universities. The loans are open to all Malaysians.

    Eligibility criteria
    You must have at least five credits in the SPM examination. Priority is given to Malaysian students pursuing studies at Malaysian institutions.
    Loan coverage
    The loan covers up to 100% of tuition fees.
